OneForce Blog-3: Human Brain & the Superb Mind (Part 1 of 7)
A superb mind begins with a healthy, balanced brain—a reality that everyone must know to live happier, more satisfied life. What is the mind—and what is the brain? Are they the same and one? Certainly not—our minds differ from our brains. The brain, as we were taught in HS, is an organ linked to the central nervous system while the mind is the workings of the brain. Note the difference?
The human brain exists as the finest hardware of our being—it controls our thoughts, our moods, and how we feel—it determines our character, habits, inclinations, attitudes, actions, and behaviors.
The human brain remains as the central organ of our personality—it determines our uniqueness in comparison with others.
The human brain is the main organ of success—it’s the starting point of how we achieve our dreams and goals—or how we failed at trying to achieve them. It’s this remarkable piece of gray matter (found between our ears) which separates us from the rest of the animal kingdom. Our brain provides that grand distinction allowing us to rule and dominate the entire creations on earth.
The human brain personifies mystery and complexity—it’s the most mysterious part of the human body—and remains to be the most complicated object in the universe.
The human brain simply dominates the way we live our adult lives—everything we do and say emanates from this control center called the brain. It is therefore important to learn how to treat, protect, and care for this magnificent part of our body. Helping the brain results to tremendous benefits—the opposite is also true—hurting the brain creates repercussions.
Now you must choose—because you’re either supporting or damaging your brain at any moment of your life. If you want a better life, choose to improve your mind by supporting your brain.
None of us are stuck with these brains—we can alter them—we can improve them. Researches show that more than 90% of human brains are unhealthy and unbalanced which can result to more problems, more chaos, and more conflicts—certainly making life harder. The great news is—we’re not stuck with these unhealthy brains—we can alter them—we can improve them. It’s from the remarkable feature of the human brain to plasticize that gives us a high level of certainty that our brains can truly change by adding or losing its neural networks. Positive flexing leads to new habits of success—creating new versions of happiness and satisfaction. Negative flexing, on the other hand, results to a harder life. Contradictory to what most people believe, our brains can continuously flex throughout during the entire lifetime—human brains are not hardwired. (Traditional belief says that human brains become hardwired when a person reaches the age of nineteen.) Human brains are not fixed—they change on a moment by moment basis. These are new and exciting scientific findings about the human brain.
Did you know that almost 90 percent of what we know about the brain is discovered only in the last decade? 1990s is seen as the decade of the human brain. But what’s really scary and surprising is that more than 80 percent of what we used to know about the brain to be true is actually false! Neuroscience continuously discovers new things about the human brain—-and how these discoveries can help people live better lives.
There is now no truth in the old adage, “Old dogs can’t learn new tricks.” The fact of the (gray) matter is—change is always happening within the brain—making each person’s learning and adjustments to environment a lifelong career whether he is 3 or 93 years old. Both young and old are malleable and they can learn new tricks. When it comes to our brains, change is king—change is permanent. Don’t be fooled again by that old saying—neuroscience has proven otherwise—it’s telling us what’s really true.
The human brain has an astounding biology beyond your wildest dream. It is a complexity of trillion neurons and connections linking one brain cell to another. Try to imagine the population of Metro Manila—give each resident 10,000 strings that will link him to another person. Multiply that intricacy by a thousand fold—you now have a human brain! The amount of linkage is tremendous that these neural pathways have outnumbered the stars in the universe. You and I actually have more connections in our brain than there are stars in the universe. A micro-area like a size of a pinhead houses 30,000 to 50,000 brain cells that are linked together and communicating with each other. A single neuron by itself is not impressive but a trillion neurons coordinating and speaking with each other is creating that higher intelligence in humans. The human brain is composed of the cerebrum, the brain stem, and the cerebellum. It is surrounded by three protective layers of tissue called the meninges, and bathed in liquid called the cerebrospinal fluid. This fluid protects the brain from injury and provides nourishment to its surrounding tissues. Although it looks unappealing like a wrinkled walnut with a consistency of a mushroom, it is packed with powers beyond your wildest dream, seriously.
Today’s brain is about three times bigger than the brain of our ancestors (who existed 2.5 million years back.) The human brain was found to increase its nerve cells by 150,000 per generation. And when it comes to our brains—SIZE DOES MATTER—and how you use it also counts. You don’t really want a small brain—and you don’t want to misuse it. No, no, no, no, no.
Here are some symptoms of an unhealthy, unbalanced brain—a person’s brain is unhealthy when:
- He/she starts to lose memory.
- He/she feels bad or in moods for no apparent reason.
- He/she feels irritated easily.
- He/she is sick, has illness or disease. (Our body is really a product of our thoughts.)
- He/she loses focus very easily.
- The list goes on and on.
All answers on “whys of human behavior” are found deep within the neurons.
Happiness, contentment, and success start with a superb mind—superb minds begin with healthy balanced brains. You and I shouldn’t take our brains for granted—help it, support it. The human brain is still our best organ for success!

I’m recollecting some matters in our last TG reunion and it’s about the most important asset a person could have. What could be that asset—is it the money—his house—the business—or even his family? Well, medical doctors claim that a person’s most important asset is his physical wellbeing, his health—and who won’t agree? Our physical health is really a goldmine—one that is truly important if we consider performing at our peak every moment. Let me suggest another personal asset—his mental attitude towards things, towards life. I’m replaying OneForce info sheet—every experience we had is an EFFECT and the MIND, interestingly enough, is the CAUSE.
I’d like to share my thoughts with you that ran into me today and it’s about super-human abilities found in every individual, you and me.
